I wrote this poem in response to the above video. Fuck this video and fuck those four plastic faced news readers.

Am I provoking you

With my short skirt

And a look of innocence

Does the twinkle in my eye

And the sight of my thighs

Push you beyond control

Am I provoking you

By telling you no

And batting your hand away

Am I provoking you

By screaming as I'm

Pushed into darkness

Am I provoking you

As my body is used

Against my will

Am I provoking you

As I cry and quiver

With your hand over my mouth

Am I provoking you

When my legs fall from under me

And I'm laying in the gutter

I am not provoking you

By living my life

And doing as I please

I am not provoking you

There's Something Nice About A Storm

There's something nice about a storm.

Trees are bent over from an invisible force,

Leaves quiver, grass shakes,

The sky turns so dark I contemplate it falling.

The sky cries

And the sunflowers are darker,

They don't stand up as well.

Something invisible has changed them.

But nature is beautiful

And damage done is just its way.

The trees will stop their quivering,

The sky will be bright again.

There's something nice about a storm

And how it reminds us that we can return from

Whatever makes us quiver, shake and fall.

We can be bright again too.

Time

Today I've been given another timed writing prompt. So I've set my timer to 5 minutes to write about time.

Times a little abstract. Have you ever heard that tumblr circulating statement that time is a concept created by man? Well that fucked 13 year old Angela up. Everyone on earth has 24 hours in each day to do with what they please. The most successful people, for the most part, are the people who know exactly how to spend their time for optimum success.

I think that's why when I read about or see people the same age as me achieving such incredible things I get very freaked out and a little bit annoyed. I can't help but compare myself, regardless of their social, or financial situation. The fact that Kendall and Kylie Jenner were born into money still doesn't stop my mind from forcing me to feel inadequate. Kylie is even YOUNGER than me. But instead of spreading jealous hate, I let them inspire me instead.

This has gone slightly off topic so I'll return to the prompt. Getting old scares me ie. Time passing. Think of how many minutes or hours you wasted today. Was liking those 56 Instagram photos worth it? Was watching a crappy film you couldn't be bothered turning off worth it? How many things did you put off in order to waste some time? Did you call your mum or watch that tv show? Did you go for a run or get two hours more unnecessary sleep?

Whenever I've been in a slump I like to look at successful people who are my age. I bet they didn't eat a can of Pringles and trawl Spotify instead of furthering themselves. Time is good and bad and it's all about what you make of it.

Uninspired

(This photo is completely irrelevant to the following post but it's one of my favourite pictures and I do not own it. But to whoever does thank you so much.)

I have dreams of strolling into a bookshop and seeing my own book on a shelf. Just as when I see To Kill a Mockingbird now, I wish to lift the book from its temporary home and flick through its pages. My heart will feel light and my being will be warmed as if catching up with a beloved old friend.

I have so many ideas. My mind explores its never ending vastness on a daily basis. I have potential and an ever expanding vocabulary. But it just isn't working out. I write every day. But where is my book? Where are my short stories? They've become lost in a sea of boredom, Instagram and early mornings.

I browse tumblr every day and see creative thinkers. My entirety is overcome with jealousy when I see a beautiful hand made piece of art, the talent it takes to make that is something I hate because I don't posses it. I live in a near constant feeling of inability and talentlessness.

Laziness has too much to do with how I feel. I don't exactly come from a pro active family so really going after what I want wasn't really a thing when I was young, and this is a mindset that has been carried on into my young adulthood.

So this is a post about how I'm going to go after what I want a little more. I'm not gonna pretend I'll be marching into a bookshop demanding a job, I'll be keeping it more tame but even tamely going after what I want will bring more things my way. I'm making a list in my mind of what I'd like to do so that will be tomorrow's WEDS but for now this is my post.
