Favourite Albums

Music is one of my biggest passions in life, much like most teenagers. My love of music began way back when I was 3 and as a present from Santa I received The Tweenies Christmas Album. I played that cd constantly until I knew all of the the words. Since then my cd collection has spiraled to a total of 56 cds. When I was 16 I began a new and different phase of school life. I was propelled from a class of people who I knew and had made many friends in, to a class filled with people I had not only never spoken to but also who I had nothing in common with. Luckily I only shared one class a day with these people but this gave me little solace as my other classes were also filled with people I had never met. I was forced to talk to people who had little interest in me and I felt thoroughly alone for over half the school year. Yes I still had my friends at lunch times and outside of school but the anxiety of being alone or uncomfortable in classes was enough to force me to find solace in something other than the internet. This is when I truly discovered my love of music and it's power not only to help but to heal. I began listening to new artists and bands and if it wasn't for them that school year would have been almost impossible to persevere through. So I have picked my 5 favourite albums of all time (a choice which was borderline impossible to make) and my reasoning for their appearance in this blogpost will be explained. 

• + - Ed Sheeran
  

I have listened to Ed Sheeran for many years, before A- Team was ever critically acclaimed and the only albums I could listen to was Songs I Wrote With Amy, Loose Change, No. 5 Collaborations and Ed Sheeran Album. I have adored his music since I heard Sofa from the album Loose Change. The personal lyrics mixed with the distinct sound of Ed's voice was more than enough to make me fall head of heels in love with is music. So when this album was released I was first inline to get a copy. Songs like "You Need Me, I Don't Need You" which highlight Ed's ability to rap add something to what would be a slow and sensual album. More intimate and slow love songs like "Give Me Love" and  "Wake Me Up" reveal the incredible ability Ed has not only as a singer but also as a lyricist. My favourite track on the album is "Kiss Me". This is a sensual love song, with it's warm sound and intimate lyrics and is a love song that will resonate through the ages. 

• Nothing Personal - All time Low
  

This was an album I discovered at my lowest point in school. I was actually only intending to buy an Eric Clapton album but as it was part of a 2 for 1 offer I picked this up on a whim simply to get the deal. This was one of the best decisions of my life. Not only did this album take over my life and provide a place to escape to when life just got too much but it also made me discover my love not just for All Time Low as a band but also for punk music in general. Had it not been for this album I would never have delved into the world of punk music and found a slew of artists that have changed how I listen to music. This album provided a sense of place to my life she I really needed it. The song "Sick Little Games" perfectly described my feelings towards some of the people in my school and "Therapy" made me realise that what I was feeling was perfectly normal and helped me believe it would end. My favourite track on this album is an accoustic of "Coffee Shop Soundtrack". because of it's stripped back nature you can hear the talented voice of lead singer Alex Gasgarth. As stereotypical as it sounds this is an album that truely changed my life and without it god knows how I would have survived 4th year. 

• In A Perfect World - KODALINE
  

KODALINE were never a band that I would have listned to even when one of my friends fell madly in love with them I simply didn't like the sound of an indie band. However I eventually got round to listening to the album in full one Sunday afternoon and by god was I pleasantly surprised. The general sound of this album is chill and relaxing and the writing ability of this band is absolutely incredible. The songs "Love Like This" and "Way Back When" are happy and upbeat without being obnoxious. Slower songs like "High Hopes" and "Pray" are wonderful additions to an album I can't praise enough. What I really love about this album is the lyricism which is not only infinitely ingenious but severely relateable in places. My favourite song on this album was almost too difficult to choose but the song which really pulled at me heart strings is "All I Want". This song is about a loved one leaving and a relationship breaking down despite the singers feelings towards their partner. "All I Want" is also on the soundtrack for The Fault In Our Stars which happens to be my favouite book so the emotions within this song simply cannot be descibed and my tumblr URL also comes from this song (0urlovewasmadeformoviescreens).This album was so good that I actually went to see KODALINE live with my best friend and they sounded just like their record, absolutely flawless. I could continue to write in much detail about this album and it's importance to me but I'll finish instead with one piece of advice: listen to this album as soon as possible.
